The Santillán Fountain
The Fountain

Towards the end of the 15th century, next to the fountain, a common land of 10 aranzadas was built for migratory cattle, since this was a livestock nerve centre that served as a meeting place for the Granada-Seville and Antequera-Córdoba ravines.
The Mollina fountain is located about 2 km away in the southeast of the urban area. It is accessed from exit S-142 of the A-92 highway, following the signs towards the village, along the old N-334 at km. 145.2. The water most likely comes from the small carbonate aquifer of the Humilladero mountain range, whose eastern end is close to the spring.
Several inscriptions and signs visibly warn of the current poor quality of the water.
The fountain has 4 pipes that flow into a pool, from which the water passes to a rectangular trough located on its left side. Above the pipes there is a front in which there must have been a square tombstone, now missing. The fountain and water trough are located in an area limited by a brick wall topped by a metal railing that serves as a long bench.
